Build Porch Screened - Adding On To Your Home

A screened porch is a wonderful way to add some additional living space to your home.  If you  need more room, or would just like some extra space to relax, then adding a screened porch on to your home is the perfect way to gain that extra space.

The first step is to check with your city and county  building department about any permits or licenses you will need.  In most cases, you will need to get a building permit to allow construction to begin.  If you belong to a homeowner's association, you will need to get their approval as well.  Be sure to adhere to the guidelines and rules required by your association, as it can save you money in fees and fines later on.

If you are hiring a contractor to build your screened porch, make sure to get estimates in writing.  Read the deposit policies carefully and any warranty and guarantee.  Check references.  Get several quotes for comparison.

Visit your local home improvement center to get ideas of styles and materials available for building your own screened porch.  Ask friends and neighbors who they recommend for the job.
